Corporate social responsibility:expert calls for right approach

Bhubaneswar, 19 March 2007: As a part of lecture series organised by the Institute of Management & Information Science, Bhubaneswar, senior Vice President, South East Asia, American Express Bank, Mr. C. V. Raghu spoke to the students of the institute on Corporate Governance & Social Responsibility in Orissa.

A successful banker Raghu has been addressing people national and international fora on varied isues.

Interacting with the budding managers, he expressed his happiness over the way students were adhering to the motto of the institute i.e. Leadership, Commitment and Discipline.

'These were core values that help in corporate governance', he said.

Citing examples of poor corporate governance of some of the multinational companies, he explained how core ideologies guide corporate governance policies and emphasized the importance of governing self in letter and spirit.

Be clear, open, follow records, maintain parity, report right and wrong things alike, show actual figures, be transparent, examine things, follow guidelines, create value, conform to necessary aspects, audit for perfection, avoid negligence, control self and enable business for good corporate governance.', he advised.

The lecture was organized under the guidance of IMIS Director, Dr. K. C. Padhy, Director General of the institute, Mr. H. K. Patnaik, Advisor, Dr. K. K. Beuria and Prof. K. Mishra also spoke on the occasion.
